Nuits-Saint-Georges Aux Lavières

Nuits-Saint-Georges · 69.16 ares · First vintage 1988
The largest of the three Nuits village parcels and the one with the most distinctive ground. The climat runs to 5.9717 hectares, alongside Aux Réas in Vosne-Romanée and bordering the premier cru Aux Murgers. Its name comes from laves, the flat limestone slabs cut here for roofing and for walls, and the vines that replaced the quarries sit on markedly calcareous soil as a result. That shows in the glass, in a wine usually described in terms of stone and graphite well ahead of fruit.
