The first of three village lieux-dits in Nuits, all of them in the northern sector on the Vosne side of the town and all from the Noëllat estate. Aux Allots occupies the lower ground below the premiers crus, on deeper colluvial soils carried down off the slope, and it is the most powerful and four-square of the three, needing patience where the others give earlier pleasure. Where volumes are too small to justify separate lots and separate barrels, the three are assembled into a single Nuits-Saint-Georges village bottling, which has been the more frequent arrangement in recent vintages.
