Les Fremières lies east of the village on the lower ground, below Les Noirots and sharing a boundary with the premier cru Les Beaux Bruns. The soil is limestone lightened by gravel and pebbles, which warms earlier in the season than the slope above and gives the wine a mineral edge that has more in common with the crus than the classification implies.
