Premier Cru
Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Chalumaux

Family parcel, planted 1954 by Alvina's grandfather Paul.
A Premier Cru on the upper part of the slope, neighbour to Champ-Canet and Combettes. The vines, planted by Paul Pernot in 1954, sit on a thin layer of soil only ten centimetres or so above the underlying limestone, which forces the roots straight down into the rock. The wine is taut and stony, and especially well suited to the cooler, wetter vintages where the natural drainage of the site comes into its own.
