Grand Cru

Corton-Charlemagne

Échange de moût with a Pernand-Vergelesses grower since 2019.

A Grand Cru from the great limestone hill of Corton, above the village of Pernand-Vergelesses on the Côte de Beaune. The Pernand side, where Alvina’s exchange comes from, is the cooler and steelier face of the appellation, later-ripening and more austere, with more citrus and chalk than the richer Aloxe side. Their grower there tends to pick early, in a style close to Alvina and Philippe’s. The choice of Pernand over Aloxe is a deliberate one, and the relationship is a long-term one. This is a cuvée that will continue in the range for the foreseeable future, anchored in real affection for the cru and for the grower who supplies them. Aged exclusively in used barrels, never in new oak.
